Web applications

My work has taken me through fintech, banking, startups and independent consulting, including roles at Revolut and Deutsche Bank. Along the way, I've worked on everything from large enterprise applications to experimental tools, often in places where the interesting part was figuring out how to make the pieces work together.

Building for complex applications

I've worked on large web applications with hundreds of controls, dense workflows, dashboards and interfaces where small architectural decisions can have a very visible impact.

I have experience in building complex applications that are scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly. I can help you build a product that meets your business goals and exceeds your users' expectations. That has meant improving rendering performance, rethinking state updates, redesigning application architecture as products grew, and finding ways to keep complex interfaces responsive and manageable.

Working around technical constraints

Real projects rarely start with a clean slate. I've integrated modern applications into legacy platforms, worked around outdated dependencies, and built ways for newer technology to coexist with systems that couldn't simply be upgraded.

More recently, that included dynamically loading a newer generation of web components, styles and supporting polyfills into an application built around an older version of the same UI platform.

Interfaces for AI-driven products

I've built several interfaces around conversational and AI-powered systems, from chatbot integrations to internal tooling used by engineers to interact with and evaluate AI models.

Beyond sending and receiving messages, the work involved asynchronous state, polling, conversation recovery, editing flows, request lifecycle handling, and developer tooling for understanding how an AI response was produced.

Exploring beyond the usual frontend

Some projects have taken me well outside the typical application stack: face-tracked 3D avatars inside video calls, RTSP stream injection, real-time speech transcription, browser-level APIs and custom data extraction tools.

Those projects taught me to be comfortable with unfamiliar systems and to treat experimentation as part of the engineering process rather than something separate from it.

Every project may be a little different, but the way I approach the work stays fairly simple and consistent: understand the problem, find the right direction, plan accordingly, build carefully, and keep improving where it makes sense.

01 — Înțelegere

Before jumping into implementation, I want to understand what we're actually trying to solve — the goal, the users, the constraints, and what already exists.

For an existing product, that might mean getting familiar with the codebase and the decisions behind it. For something new, it might start with little more than an idea and a conversation.

02 — Conturare

Once the problem is clear, we can work out what the solution should look like.

That means deciding what matters now, what can wait, and how to approach the technical side without making things more complicated than they need to be.

03 — Construire

This is where things take shape.

I work iteratively, keeping the implementation maintainable while paying attention to the details that affect how the finished product feels. Depending on the project, I can work independently or as part of an existing team.

04 — Rafinare

Shipping is important, but it doesn't always mean the work is finished.

Once something is in use, there may be feedback to act on, rough edges to smooth out, performance to improve, or simply another idea worth exploring. When it makes sense, we keep going.

I'm Cristian, a software engineer based in Bucharest with a strong focus on frontend development. My experience spans fintech, banking, startups, and independent consulting, usually working on products where good engineering means understanding more than just the code.
